Heirloom Jewelry Redesign in Orange County

Bring your sentimental pieces back to life, reimagined by Katie into jewelry you'll wear again.

Heirloom redesign is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do at Mama Bijoux. Katie Miller is a third generation jeweler, and she has spent her career learning how to look at an old ring, a broken necklace, or a stone that has been sitting in a drawer for years and see exactly what it can become. Our heirloom rework and jewelry redesign process is built for clients across Costa Mesa, Orange County, and Newport Beach who want to turn inherited jewelry, a grandmother's ring, or an outdated setting into a custom piece that actually gets worn. Whether you are redesigning an old diamond engagement ring, remounting loose stones into a new necklace or bracelet, or reworking gold you already own into something new, Katie handles every heirloom redesign by hand in our Costa Mesa atelier, using 14k yellow gold and treating every inherited stone with the care it deserves. This is custom jewelry redesign rooted in family history, done by a jeweler who understands what these pieces mean.

How It Works

The Redesign Process

I

Book & Fill Your Intake Form

Complete the form with details about your jewelry, what you're hoping to explore, and whether you'd like to come in or go virtual. We'll confirm your appointment within 48 hours.

II

Gather Your Pieces

Pull together anything you want Katie to look at, even pieces you're unsure about. Bring everything in person, or ship it to us once your appointment is confirmed.

III

The Consultation

Katie will sit down and take a look at your heirloom pieces. She'll tell you what we can and can't use, and start going over your ideal redesign to bring these sentimental pieces back to life.

IV

CAD & Approval

Once you've settled on a direction, Katie will keep you updated every step of the way and send 3D images for your approval before production begins.

V

Finished & Pickup

We'll reach out as soon as your redesign is complete. Pay the remaining balance and pick up your reborn heirloom, ready to wear for years to come.

Common Questions

How Much Does Heirloom Redesign Cost?

All redesign projects will differ depending on design direction. We will work with you to get you your dream piece within your budget. All custom orders are final sale. A 50% deposit is required to confirm production. Any monies used in the design process will be forfeited should the customer wish to cancel an order already in process. Due to the custom nature of every piece, returns or exchanges are not accepted. However, we are a small business whose goal is for you to be 100% happy with your jewelry. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a redesign, we will make every effort to remake or fix at a discounted rate. Price estimates are estimates only, and final cost will be determined by gold and diamond price at the time of casting. Gold and diamond prices fluctuate daily.

How Long Does the Redesign Process Take?

Depending on your project, you can expect the redesign timeline to be about 4 to 6 weeks.

Can You Use Any Piece I Bring In?

We love working with existing jewelry and transforming it into a piece that feels authentic to you. During your consultation, Katie will look over what you bring in and let you know exactly what stones and metal can carry forward into your new design.

How Will I Know What My Redesigned Piece Will Look Like Before It's Finished?

Tell us your vision and we will sit down and land on your dream design. During the process, we can create and send you a 3D rendering of your piece so you can see exactly what it will look like once it's finished.

I Don't Live Locally. Can I Still Redesign My Jewelry?

Absolutely. We work with clients all over the world. Our redesign process is seamless virtually. We'll connect through video consultations, share updates, and ship your finished piece safely to you, wherever you may be.

Do You Offer Engraving?

Yes. We offer engraving on our pieces for a $35 fee. Whether it's initials, a date, or a meaningful word, it's a beautiful way to add a personal touch.
